WATER4SCHOOLS

We’re empowering students through education and opportunity

to become global citizens who advocate for the planet.

EDUCATION IS THE PASSPORT TO THE FUTURE...

Water is life. Education gives depth.

Thriving is impossible for children if their school lacks basic necessities such as clean water and a safe, sanitary bathroom. The mission of Water4Schools is to help schools worldwide access safe water and adequate sanitation facilities.

VISION

Problems are not ideal, but solving them can be fun!

Water4Schools' main goal is finding fun, educational ways to connect students from the United States to regions where we operate including the Dominican Republic, Tanzania, Nepal, and areas around the Amazon. By creating this connection, we believe that both the student's lives and their schools will be positively impacted. With Water4Schools, children in the United States become global advocates for the water crisis, and children worldwide receive the tools for clean water and hygiene!

What we offer:

  • Class Connection: Interactive calls with classrooms in remote regions of the world with classes here in the U.S.

  • Curriculum: Educational materials for schools both in the U.S. and abroad based around water safety, sanitation, and hygiene.

  • Games: Hands-on activities for students based on the importance of water filtration, the burden of water access for many children, and more. Examples of activities include a relay walk for water, a filter build activity, and more.

  • Help: Students lead water-access efforts and support the global schools they are connecting with. Whether the school needs a new well, a rainwater system, water filters, or even bathrooms, students directly help the students they’ve connected with.

  • Travel: We love having students, their families, and teachers visit our programs around the world! With Water4Schools, students can volunteer AND visit the schools they’ve impacted!

WATER4SCHOOL
INTERNATIONAL

We equip schools in East Africa, Nepal, the Dominican Republic, and the Amazon through water access, filtration, and a 9-month WASH curriculum that is interactive and fun so the next generation thrives.

HOW DOES IT IMPACT CHILDREN GLOBALLY?

  • School attendance increases and children no longer spend their days collecting water.

  • Clean drinking water reduces the incidence of waterborne illnesses, keeping children in school and outside of hospitals.

  • Girls are provided with private bathroom facilities and education for hygiene and menstrual management. With privacy and education, little girls are safer and miss fewer days of school due to proper management and lowered UTI infections.

  • Marriage and childbirth age increases drastically in communities where young girls are educated.

SCHOOL SPOTLIGHT:
DOMINICAN REPUBLIC

All around the world, many schools do not have the resources to teach proper water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) education to their students and teachers.

This was the case for The School of Diversity, an educational center for children with disabilities in the Dominican Republic. The WTW team provided ceramic filters, hand washing stations, and collaborated with teachers in interactive activities and WASH education that was adapted for the needs of all 60 students. The technology and training at The School of Diversity will benefit students and staff for years to come.

In 2022, the WTW team will lead educational seminars monthly to provide WASH education and technology throughout the Dominican Republic.
